Blood Rites: Book Review
Title: Blood Rites (Book 6/11 in the Dresden Files series)
Author: Jim Butcher
Number of Pages: 372
Genre: Mystery/Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Book Number/Goal: 36/50 in 2009
Review: I think this is probably my favorite one yet.
While the ending to Death Masks completely blew my mind, I loved Blood Rites from start to finish. It's probably because the book appealed to my baser insticnts - snark and innuendo abound.
**SPOILERS BELOW**
First of all, Murphy/Dresen UST FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, I've been waiting for this since Storm Front. I just love Murph. I ♥ Murph on a bike. I hope we get more of this...a lot more of this, actually.
Dresden with a cute little puppy - awwww.
Bob being sneaky and coming up with an excuse (even if it was a poor one) to visit strip clubs - classic.
Frozen turkey falling out of the sky - does it really get any better than this? Well, perhaps the flying flaming monkey poo tops it. A tie perhaps?
As for the more serious aspects of the book...
I'm very pleased that Dresden has some answers regarding his mother, his magic, and his training. I'm curious to see what the future holds as far as his faith in magic given the shake-up (which hardly seems to cover the emotional impacts) caused by Ebenezar. Hopefully, the healing he's begun to do because of his family will help him to deal with the trauma. Everything we know about Dresden has stemmed around his faith and now that it's been shaken all the way down to its foundation, where will that leave him?
