Title: The Stone Monkey
Author: Jeffery Deaver
Number of Pages: 432 pages
Book Number/Goal: 22/75 for 2009
My Rating: 3/5

In the fourth book of the Lincoln Rhyme/Amelia Sachs series, Lincoln and Amelia are recruited by the FBI and INS to help capture a notorious Chinese killer and people smuggler known as the Ghost. They discover that he's aboard a cargo ship heading for New York with two dozen illegal Chinese immigrants. But before they can stop the ship, the Ghost blows it up. Only the Ghost and two families survive. Lincoln and Amelia now have to find the Ghost before he can track down the survivors and kill them.

The Stone Monkey is a solid thriller, nothing more and nothing less. It's not as great as other Lincoln Rhyme books I've read because there were too many characters which were not fully developed and it sometimes felt that they were unnecessary for the plot. And – which is unusual for Deaver's books – the plot was too predictable this time.

Nevertheless I enjoyed reading the book but if you're not familiar with Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs, I'd recommend reading The Bone Collector or The Cold Moon first.
