Title: Stormy Weather
Author: Carl Hiaasen
Language: English
Number of Pages: 388
Book Number/Goal: 2/12
My Rating: 3/5
The book is set in Miami after hurricane Andrew; it's a black humor thriller. While every one is trying to leave the disaster zone, con-artists, thieves and ambitious people trying to make easy money all come to Miami to take advantage of the desperate families without home. At first I was a bit taken aback by the amount of new characters introduced in each chapter. It was difficult to keep up, but after a couple of chapters the stories start to connect to each other and it all becomes clearer.
The book is funny, but it doesn't paint a pretty picture of American society. All the characters are motivated by money and will do anything to get it. The only three exceptions to this rule are, according to society, insane. Literally.
