Death Masks: Book Review
Title: Death Masks (Book 5/11 in the Dresden Files series)
Author: Jim Butcher
Number of Pages: 374
Genre: Mystery/Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Book Number/Goal: 35/50 in 2009
Review: Yay! This was several steps up from the last one.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. So much so, in fact, that I stayed up 2 hours later than I should have just to finish it.
**SPOILERS BELOW**
Love, love, love the 3 Knights. I though their characters were FANTASTIC. I'm sad that we won't be seeing all three of them together again, but I'm quite intrigued by the gift Dresden was given to pass along when the time is right. For a brief moment when Marcone was seemingly defenseless (after having been disarmed of his gun) on the train, I was fearful that he was the one and that it was the right time. Thankfully, that fear was short lived and unjustified.
I can now safely say that I'm indifferent to Susan. She's changed enough that she's not the same character that I couldn't bring myself to hate, and actually found myself liking, but we don't know enough about the new Susan to be endeared to her.
Again, I say, more Murphy please!
I thought the ending was phenomenal. I know I won't be able to justice to my feelings about the spiritual/emotional aspects of the ending, so I'll just say I'm quite impressed with Dresden's growth over the course of this book, and am really looking forward to seeing where we go with him from here.
***RANDOM*** I'm finding that I wish I knew more about myth, legends, and the fantasy realm. It's very difficult for me to be able to tell what is strictly Jim Butcher's and what simply belongs to the genre.
