March check-in
It's been a few months since I last posted here, so I'm checking in. I'll try to post here once a month and say how I'm doing on my goals.
My goals for this year were:
Minimum 50 books
Minimum 15K pages
Minimum 25 female authors
Minimum 10 authors of colour (finally finish my first round of
50books_poc)
Finish reading the Bible
Finish reading planned list of novels (24 books)
I've revised the POC goal up to a minimum of 25 authors of colour, because it wasn't enough. Ideally I'm planning that half my total book count this year will be by authors of colour. The planned list of novels has ballooned to 32 books, in order to accommodate this.
I'm also looking at a stretch goal of 100 books and 40K pages.
So far, I've read 18 books and 4523 pages. I've read 11 books by women, and 5 books by authors of colour. I haven't made any progress at all on the Bible yet.
Planned reading list: so far I have read Stephen Crane's The Red Badge of Courage, Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, and Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth. I am currently reading Marcel Proust's Swann's Way, and hope to finish it this week. If I read 100 pages per day, I should finish it on Friday, but I'd like to finish a day early so I can get a head start on the next book, Somerset Maugham's Of Human Bondage.
