Goal: To complete
50books_poc_feed, ie, to read 50 books by people of colour/non-white authors/illustrators by 25 May 2011
Definition of "book": no real limits unless I think of them at the time (ie, I counted the three Queenie Chan The Dreaming volumes as 1 book last year. If an anthology of stories/articles is more than 75% non-white, it can count as a book, or 50% if edited by a non-white person.
Definition of "poc": No white South Americans (ie, no Isabelle Allende) and I'm still not sure about Middle Easterners, even though I really want to read-and-count Persepolis.
A little about my goal and my reading habits: I just about finished
50books_poc_feed between Feb 09 - Feb 10 - I finished 48 books, although I still haven't reviewed two of them. Yesterday was my birthday, so I thought I should start up another cycle. I have at least another 100 books on my Goodreads listed as "by non-white people", although some of those would be Middle Eastern authors. I really enjoyed 50books_poc last year (although it has caused me to fall way behind on my YA reading...)
